Joshua's Poem

I used to be so very sad,
Someone to love, I never had,
I dreamed that someday you would come,
And take me to my first real home,

I was so hungry and so cold,
My bones were feeling very old,
I hurt so much, I thought I'd die,
So weak, I couldn't even cry...

BUT THEN........

someone took me away,
what a scary, confusing day,
I didn't know they were my friends,
I thought for me this might be the end;
They patched me up and took me away,
To the place I live today;
I discovered something wonderful here,
They love me and they think I'm "dear";
This is a very special place,
Safe and cozy in my space;
My human cooks me special food,
Even if I'm not in the mood;
She brushes me an bathes me as well,
No longer do I live in hell;
My human has a special name,
Some call her Joan, it's not the same;
My name for her is Mommy dear,
She makes me feel her love right here;
I love her too, she belongs to me,
And we're as happy as can be!!!!
