Chaucer's Story
Chaucer came to UMR from a local shelter.
The shelter director told us that his family had literally "packed his bags" for
him. He arrived with a crate, toys, food - even his bed. Chaucer lost his family because
he had some ongoing health problems that the family was unwilling to continue paying the
vet to fix. Luckily, one of our applicants was a nurse and Chaucie's problems didn't deter
her one bit. It's been a year since Chaucer found his new home, a place where he regained
his health and found a mom who will always love and care for him.

The moment I saw Chaucers
cute little face, I knew I would adopt him. He was 10 years old and diagnosed with
Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome, which required him to take multiple medications and visit the
Veterinarian often. Six months after he settled into his new home, he no longer needed to
take any of his medications. He is happy and healthy now! Boob-o-laa, as I affectionately
call him, is a wonderful companion. He enjoys going on hiking and site-seeing trips.
Its a great feeling to see him at the door to greet me when I come home from work.
Being with Chaucer is one of the best feelings in the world!
