| Lacy's
Story
Lacy was 13 years old when we were asked to place her because she was pottying in the house and required "excessive attention." Usually, we get so few girls into rescue that finding them a home isn't much of a problem, but at 13 even the folks wanting girls dismissed Lacy as "too old." Everyone but Janie, that is. Janie had just lost a dog of her own, but when she saw Lacy on our website, she was absolutely sure that Lacy would be the perfect addition to her home and family (two other dogs, and a cat). Lacy moved in, stopped pottying (thanks to Janie paying attention to her actions and getting her out to the big backyard), and quickly made friends with the other pets in the home. If no one told you that Lacy (now Emma) was 13, you'd never know it by her behavior. She may sleep more than a youngster, but otherwise is as active as any adult dog. Maltese dogs are like that--even at 14 or 15 they are still not old. Emma is an absolute sweetheart who worships Janie and follows her everywhere. Thanks to Janie, this "old dog" is young again and will have a wonderful home to live out her life over the next few years. |
