Max was the victim of sibling rivalry.
Max lived with an older dog who was very aggressive and felt the need to take out his
feelings on Max. So poor Max had suffered more than one ripped ear and just in general
wasn't have a perfect life, even though his mom loved him a lot. In fact his mom loved him
so much that she called UMR to see if we could find him a great home where he wouldn't
always be in danger of being bitten by the older dog.
Max is a beautiful boy, but he is
"huge" by Maltese standards. He weighed about 17 pounds. His temperament though
was 100% Maltese. He exhibited all the qualities these guys are known for. He was brimming
with love and just wanted to be with his person. Since most people looking for a Maltese
want a smaller dog, finding just the right home for Max was a bit of a challenge. But then
Christy called us.
Max's New Beginning . . .
Christy was looking for a Maltese on the "big
side." She loved the breed for all its characteristics, but wanted a companion who
"fit" her lifestyle. Christy lives in a very large, very beautiful home on a
very large lot. She has a huge deck off her family area that has quite a number of stairs
down to the yard. She felt that a bigger dog would do better in this environment than a
small one. Most importantly, she wanted a dog that was very loving and reasonably well
behaved. Max was perfect. Good behavior was Max's middle name, and he loved everyone and
everything. Didn't matter to Max whether it was a cat or even his mean "brother"
Maltese, he loved them and was sure he could make friends. When Christy went to meet Max,
he hopped right up on her lap and there he stayed. Max's mom was heartbroken to see Max
go, but she loved him and knew that Max and Christy had a bond and Max would soon realize
how much sweeter life was without his bully of a brother. So off Max, our "big"
boy, went to live in the big house with the big yard and the big deck with many stairs.
Now is that a match made in heaven or what! Christy loved Max from the very beginning. She
tells us that Max not only loves her and his big yard, but he is learning how wonderful
life can be with no older brother to torment him.
