Brandy came to UMR from a local shelter. A Maltese/poodle
mix, she was a little ball of fluff, who was only 8 or 9 months old. The reason her people
gave for dropping her at the shelter -- "She runs around all night and keeps us
awake." Ms. Brandy went to foster care, where she kept no one awake, but did love to
sleep on the bed, curl up in laps, and follow her foster mom everywhere she went. Brandy
was just looking for love and attention, but apparently her first home wasn't the right
place to find it.
Brandy's New Beginning as Misty....
Janette and Max, her little rescue Maltese boy, had a lot
of love they wanted to share with another rescue baby. So, Janette braved a huge traffic
pile-up and followed a lot of back country roads to meet Brandy. Max had been an only
child for quite a while, and he didn't think he was all that interested in having a
brother or sister. But when Max met Brandy, he decided a sister was just what he'd been
missing. Janette fell in love with this adorable little girl immediately too. So Janette
and Max and Brandy (whose name was changed to Misty) became a family.
After the first excitement of having a sister wore off,
Max was a little less sure he wanted one--especially one that was a puppy and wanted to
play all the time. But eventually the two became best friends, just as Janette had hoped.
Misty recently had to spend the night at the vet's and both Janette and Max missed her
terribly. When Misty came home, Max was so happy to see her that he ran right up to her
and kissed her!
Misty finally found just the right place to be loved and
cherished. She will sleep soundly every night for the rest of her life knowing that her
mom and brother are always going to be right there beside her.
