Story
Maltese Rescue groups almost NEVER have a puppy to place, but UMR was asked by a local no-kill shelter to place a Maltese puppy that had been brought to them. He was only 14 weeks old and had been an "impulse" buy. Unfortunately, the folks that bought him hadn't checked with their landlord first and they were told "the dog goes or you go." so out went the puppy. What fun we had fostering "PuppyMan." He was your normal, wonderful puppy, complete with puppy breath and a ton of "accidents" and spent a lot of time pulling the tails and ears of the older dogs in his foster home. But Puppyman was so full of himself that you just had to love him. Dottie is home all the time, which was the perfect situation for raising a puppy. She had lost her husband and her Maltese within months of each other and really needed a bundle of love in her life. So our willful little one went off to live with her. With lots of work and love and a couple of sessions at doggie kindergarten, Dottie almost has him under control, but he is quite the little imp. Dottie loves him to pieces, of course, and like most moms outside of a few moments of exasperation, she gets a kick out of Tobe (a great name for this dear boy) and his antics. He will have a wonderful home where he will grow up, shape up, and grow old with love under his wings always. |
